What the Captain Really Meant to Say. One of the classic spoofs of the Vietnam War. Recorded at Bien Hoa airbase in 1968 it satirizes the Pentagon's practice of placing its spin on comments made by servicemen. This one is supposed to be between a "Shy and retiring F4 Phantom pilot" and a stateside journalist, with the Pentagon PR spin doctor applying the translation on the run. Caution: This contains four letter words, sexual innuendo and references to killing the enemy that some new age soldiers may be unfamiliar with, or even offended by. Shock and Awe. |

US Armed Forces Radio Vietnam. Radio "advertising" was extensively used to get information to the troops. This one minute playette encourages them to take their malaria pills or suffer the attentions of the dreaded Count Malaria. It's possible the announcer in this one was suffering from a few too many Budweiser's. Spooky stuff from 1968.
